Choosing the Right Equipment for Rider and Horse

Selecting equipment suited to a rider is crucial for the rider–horse partnership. Helmets, airbags, and boots should be individually adapted so that the rider’s discomfort does not affect the horse’s movement or performance.

Choosing a Riding Helmet (Bombe)

Choosing the right riding helmet (bombe) is essential to combine safety, comfort, and performance. A well-fitted helmet effectively protects the rider’s head in case of a fall while remaining comfortable to wear, without pressure points or restrictive movement. If it is too large, it may shift during activity and lose protective efficiency; if it is too small, it becomes uncomfortable and can distract the rider. A high-quality, properly sized and adjusted helmet allows the rider to maintain good posture and freedom of movement, promoting more confident and relaxed riding, while also contributing to the overall well-being of the horse.

Choosing Equestrian Boots

Choosing properly fitted riding boots is crucial to combine comfort, performance, and safety. Well-fitted boots ensure good contact with the horse while allowing the foot and ankle to move freely, enhancing stability in the saddle and the precision of the aids. Boots that are too stiff, too tight, or poorly shaped can create pressure points, pain, or blisters, compromising the rider’s comfort and potentially disrupting the horse’s balance. Conversely, high-quality boots, correctly calibrated to the rider’s morphology and type of riding, provide optimal support, promote proper posture, and contribute to smooth and harmonious riding, while reducing the risk of fatigue or injury.

Choosing Your Equestrian Airbag

Choosing an equestrian airbag should never be left to chance, as it plays a crucial role in protecting the rider while maintaining comfort for both rider and horse. A well-fitted airbag allows the thorax to move naturally without excessively compressing the chest, which is essential for smooth breathing and good mobility in the saddle. If it is too rigid or poorly adjusted, it can restrict movement, unbalance the rider, and create tension that affects the horse. Conversely, a properly chosen model, in the right size and correctly fitted, provides optimal protection in the event of a fall while remaining discreet and comfortable, allowing for fluid, harmonious, and safe riding for the rider–horse partnership.
